Just how scalable is your hyperlocal startup?

Unlocking the Power of Hyperlocal Innovation

About a month ago, during one of those onboarding calls with a Tanzanian startup founder (in a city other than Dar es Salaam), the idea of creating a hyperlocal digital platform to promote locally-embedded entrepreneurs  emerged. Once again.

Is the idea something fresh and ROI-friendly? “Why not”, we encouraged the Tanzanian startup founder and shared with him an example of something similar: Kynhood. “A true hyperlocal app that provides real-time news, new events/happenings, and decision-making assistance in your neighborhood”. All Chennai, Tamil Nadu-focused.

While it remains to be seen whether this hyperlocal platform  case from India did enough to inspire the Tanzanian startup founder, Neighborhood Studios, a venture studio that helps Atlanta, Georgia founders build hyperlocal startups, are right to point out that hyperlocal startup founders define their initial geography much too broad

Focusing on the same city — in the case of cities with the fastest growing or largest populations  sometimes should mean really just focusing on a single neighborhood or borough. Think Brooklyn versus Queens in New York City!

How innovative is your neighborhood as of this moment?

Most of our lives are spent within a few miles of our homes.
